The Case for Camp

Everyone has that one friend who went to camp. Or if you don’t (we don’t believe you by the way) you’ve definitely come across a reference to summer camp in American popular culture.

Ben Stiller in Heavyweights? Bill Murray in Meatballs? Demi Lovato and the Jo Bros in Camp Rock? Literally everyone you know in Wet Hot American Summer? How about Lindsay Lohan in The Parent Trap? Don’t tell us you don’t know at least part of that epic handshake sequence.

So what’s the appeal? Why the big fuss about camp? Maybe it’s the major nostalgia factor. Camp activities like color war, tie-dye, cabin spirit, and bunk pranks are all about the 90’s vibes and we’re here for it. Or maybe it’s the allure of a simpler way of life. Being closer to nature, disconnected from our devices, bonding with the people around you, trying things out of your comfort zone.

The camp experience is certainly all of those things, but to us at CampHire, camp is all about community, personal growth, and professional development.

It’s about the people you meet, the connections you forge, and the lessons you learn that makes camp such a special place. When you step into a staff role at camp, you’re propelling yourself on a path toward a lifelong network of diverse people, talents, and ideas that broaden your horizons. There are only a few jobs in this world where you can gain so much, so quickly.

In addition to the instant network, you will hone skills that translate seamlessly to your future career. Leadership, resourcefulness, empathy, creativity, responsibility. This is the camp experience.

At CampHire, we’re here to help you find your place at camp because we know it will be the best summer of your life (we’re speaking from experience here), and will set you up for your future career.

So become a camp person – reach out to the CampHire team and learn about open roles that interest you.
