Building leadership at the world’s most iconic action sports camp
Client
Camp Woodward
General Manager, Director of Sports Programs
Role

Eric Brown
General Manager
The Partnership
With just a few months until summer, Camp Woodward’s internal team was struggling to fill two highly specialized leadership roles at its Pennsylvania and California locations. They needed help—and fast. Camp Woodward is a nationally recognized overnight camp with a 50-year legacy in action sports. It’s an extreme sports institution, backed by POWDR and known for BMX, skate, snowboarding, and parkour programs that draw Olympians and elite athletes from across the country.
The moment we got the call, we understood the stakes. As a lifelong snowboarder and surfer, Aaron knew the Woodward brand by heart. This was a chance to help shape the future of a camp that had defined action sports culture for decades.
The Search
We got to work immediately, mapping out key talent pools and defining what success looked like. These weren’t generic job postings. One role required operational excellence, nonprofit savvy, and residential camp fluency. The other called for someone who could design and lead world-class sports programs while managing a complex seasonal team.
We built two targeted sourcing strategies focused on ski academies, youth development orgs, BMX and skate nonprofits, and action sports leadership circles. Every candidate needed to understand the culture, command respect from staff and campers, and step in ready to lead.
The Hire
We found Eric Brown through deep sourcing and discovery. A camp director and former semi-pro BMX athlete, Eric brought authenticity, leadership, and heart. His background made him a standout for Director of Sports Programming at Woodward East.
Terrence Stilin-Rooney was hired as General Manager at Woodward West. A seasoned camp leader with national experience, Terrence had built programs, run large teams, and lived action sports.
